Her broad training enables her to hold a holistic and nuanced view of female health, while her own journey through menstrual issues, pregnancy, birth, loss & motherhood deeply informs her practice.
Poppy specialises in offering women a truly personalised, blended form of Eastern/Western therapeutics with a healthy dose of up-to-date nutritional and mineral science. She has experience with a number of chronic conditions of the endocrine (hormonal) system, along with a special passion for helping postpartum women recover their energy, mood & vitality at any and all stages of motherhood.
Fieke Mestdagh is a Clinical Herbalist, wild forager and fermentation enthusiast. With a tremendous passion for all-things-green and medicine-making, her true “nomad-spirit” has taken her to a myriad of forests around the globe. During her time living in the Swiss Alps, she hosted numerous medicinal plant walks and holistic health workshops.
Her herbal practice merges the principles of Western Herbal Medicine with the nuanced diagnostic tools originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine.
Assessing the physical, mental and spiritual bodies, while focusing on nutrition and lifestyle changes along with the support of herbal medicine and nutritional supplementation is key to her practice in addressing both acute and chronic health conditions.
Fro the past 4.5 years, she has had the privilege of studying under the guidance of esteemed educators such as Colleen Emery (Emery Herbals Teaching Centre) and Dr. Terry & Yarrow Willard (Wild Rose College of Natural Healing). As of early 2023, Fieke has engaged in close clinical apprenticeship with Poppy Burr and continues to work in her mentorship. Fieke is committed to the ever-learning herbal medicine journey and is currently available for online consultations only. All consultations will be held in English but Dutch, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese can be brought into consultations if needed.
About the consultation
By giving the client the time and space to tell their story, the herbalist is able to form a picture of the history and progression of an illness, and consider the psychosocial factors that have contributed to imbalance of health over the patient’s lifetime. Open discussion is also therapeutic in its own right, and many people do feel that ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’.
Poppy and Fieke combine their Western medical expertise with their knowledge of Chinese medicine tongue and pulse diagnosis, in addition to any lab tests ordered, to decide on the best course of treatment for the individual.
The initial consultation is 1.5 hrs and herbal treatment is usually dispensed immediately following the appointment.
Follow-up consultations are 45 minutes - 1hr and address treatment progress as well as any new symptoms or concerns.
